Albany police are planning to buy a better type of speed-radar trailer, one that can record the license plates of vehicles it observes to be speeding.

On a rainy day, a speed bump explanation

On the bike a couple of weeks ago, I noticed new speed bumps on Grandview Drive in North Albany and did not give them further thought. Then someone asked about them on Facebook, saying they were hard to see and should be better marked.

Tough choice: Stop or roll through?

Like other residential districts of Albany before it, the Willamette Neighborhood now has sprouted a crop of new stop signs to slow down traffic. This may work, or it may not.

Speed control, the low-cost approach

Whether this works if speed control is the goal, I’m not sure. Yachats, on the central coast in Lincoln County, seems to think it’s worth a try.

When I’m on the bike, those speed-control trailers set up by the police always represent a challenge. And yes, unlike most traffic signal loops, those radar trailers actually do register something as small as a bike.
