Here’s one way to make our city streets more useful than they already are: Plant flowering shrubs, or let them grow, in the parking strips instead of grass.
On the bike a couple of weeks ago, I noticed new speed bumps on Grandview Drive in North Albany and did not give them further thought. Then someone asked about them on Facebook, saying they were hard to see and should be better marked.

An odd sight on a ride around town
A new sign caught my eye on a recent bike ride through my favorite part of Albany, the old Willamette Neighborhood between the river and the Union Pacific and Portland & Western tracks.
