Now that was a weird-looking train that inched its way across Albany streets on Wednesday morning.
Green paint on the pavement is supposed to enhance traffic safety for bicyclists. But five months after paint was applied on Madison Street in Albany, it doesn’t exactly scream for attention.
What you’re looking at here, on the other side of my old Giant Rincon bike, is the first place in central Albany where ODOT is paying for green bike lanes to warn motorists that there might be a bicyclist crossing the street.
If you have been losing sleep over the idea of a “bike boulevard” on Albany’s Madison Street between Second Avenue and Pacific, you can rest easy. The idea has stalled because of an apparent lack of interest by residents and property owners along the street.
City plans to put three lots up for sale
Three small vacant lots in central Albany and owned by the city will soon come up for sale. What eventually happens there, if anything, seems very much up in the air.
