One thing Albany-area voters don’t have to worry much about is that in our elections, a whole bunch of votes are discarded because they are sent off too late or get hung up in the mail. The number of such ballots turns out to be small.
Facebook last week reverberated with a complaint from a Lebanon mother that a particular set of circumstances resulted in her son being deprived of a chance to vote. I looked into it, and the upshot is that he can vote after all if he wants.

When I visited the late Steve Druckenmiller’s office in the Linn County Courthouse on Sept. 25, it was Chief Deputy Clerk Marcie Richey who showed me around.
