Can that feeble lane marker be improved?

It was in October 2018 that the Oregon Department of Transportation followed up on an Albany request and painted a new line to help drivers on Ellsworth Street turning left on Ninth Avenue. It has worked pretty well, but maybe not well enough.

City approves plan for riverfront lot

Albany has approved a site plan for redoing a Water Avenue parking lot in order to make it fit in with the planned riverfront redevelopment. The estimated cost is $182,000.

ODOT has followed through on changing an important lane marking on Ellsworth Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues. Now let’s see if Albany drivers get the hint.

More bulbouts, and a question

The official name, I think, is sidewalk extensions. But you can also call them bulbouts. They’ve been a favorite of street planners for years, and Albany is getting a bunch more as part of the CARA streetscape project that’s going to start in June.
