It was early in August when I took this photo. It’s on the south side of the new configuration of Highway 20 at Independence Highway, an ODOT safety project that had just been completed.

Bike bridge — an idea too far out?

It’s wishful thinking, I know, but a bike bridge across the Willamette River might actually avoid all kinds of other complications as the search continues for a more or less direct Albany-Corvallis Trail.

Cor-Alb Trail gets Albany’s support, again

The planned Corvallis-to-Albany Trail has won renewed support from the Albany City Council. But its completion is still at least three or four years away.

Cor-Alb trail funds OK’d: And now?

The Aug. 16 story about the Corvallis-Albany — or Albany-Corvallis, depending on our viewpoint — bike trail generated more comments on this webside than any previous item. So you may be interested to learn that the Oregon Transportation Commission today approved partial funding of the project, and the question is: Now what?

Corvallis-Albany trail may get $2 million

Good news on the cycling front — I think. The long-planned Corvallis-Albany bike trail may soon get $2 million of the roughly $4.8 million it is estimated to cost. The project ended up 18th on a statewide priority list of funding under the program known as Connect Oregon V (that’s V as in 5).
