  You’re looking at the signature page of Gov. Kate Brown’s executive order to reduce Oregon’s greenhouse gas emissions. The order came out Tuesday. One of the things it shows is that the governor doesn’t write cursive.


No carbon will mean mandatory mileage tax

Drivers in Albany and across Oregon are expected to all be tooling around in electric vehicles in about 30 years. The implication of that gets little discussion as the legislature prepares to pass its plan to force a near-elimination of fossil fuels and the emissions of greenhouse gas.


Reducing carbon without being forced

The legislature’s approach to cutting back our emissions of carbon dioxide is to enlarge the state bureaucracy with the power to impose rules and raise the price of fossil fuels. Simple steps that would save Albany residents money and actually lessen CO2 get no mention in the 182-page bill.
