  This sign stopped me when I reached the western edge of Albany’s little Hazelwood Park last week. “Private property?” Really? I thought this land was owned by Uncle Sam.


BPA pole replacement nears finish

Contractors for the Bonneville Power Administration have been working in North Albany on the final stage of a two-year project to replace power poles on two high-tension transmission lines from Salem to the Albany substation near Hazelwood Park.


Pacific to Millersburg: It won’t work

Millersburg is contemplating taking over the electric power system within its boundaries in order to allow Wah Chang, the metals plant, to benefit from low-cost preference power sold by the Bonneville Power Administration. Pacific Power has now warned the city council that in the company’s opinion this won’t work.
