Back in Albany Friday after being away for a week, I read on Facebook that the algae harvesters were back on Waverly Lake. I passed the lake on a bike ride Saturday and, sure enough, almost all of the algae on the lake’s surface were gone.
The other day somebody wondered on social media why the new fountain and aerators in Albany’s Waverly Lake were not working. But if they were off, it was because the power was out.

Looks like Aquatic Harvesting accomplished its mission on Albany’s Wavery Lake, so today the company crew loaded their two weed harvesting machines for transport to their next assignment.
The surface of Albany’s Waverly Lake appeared vastly improved on Thursday, one day after a couple of weed and algae harvesting machines started churning through the water.
Waverly Lake cleared for another summer
For the third summer in a row, a company has cleared Albany’s Waverly Lake of virtually all of its unwanted growth of water plants and algae.
