Work on two highway safety projects in Albany seems to have stalled. The reason will sound familiar.
IÂ took this photo on a Sunday in February 2020, after ODOT announced plans to work on the busy Albany intersection of Waverly Drive and Santiam Highway. Now the department is getting ready to carry out that and another Albany project at an estimated combined cost of nearly $6 million.
There are a couple of Albany intersections that come up now and then when cyclists talk about challenging traffic conditions. Let’s take a look at them both.
The brush has been cleared away, and pretty soon the oaks and other mature trees will come down as well on Franklin Avenue just west of Airport Road and Interstate 5.
The Albany Planning Division is processing a request for a zone change that would allow more and smaller residential lots on a piece of undeveloped woodland off Franklin Avenue and Airport Road.
