The people at Portland State University came out with their annual population estimates the other day.  If the report conceals startling news about Albany and other mid-valley towns, I don’t see it. But the new numbers provide fodder for a story nevertheless.

In Adair Village, the transformation of the countryside south of Ryals Avenue into suburbia is well under way, as I could not help noticing as I drove by there on Monday last.

If you drive along Ryals Avenue in Benton County, the construction you see south of the road is the result of the desire by the city of Adair Village to be more than a tiny bedroom community. It wants to be a bigger town.


Take a look at ‘new’ Palestine Church

As you can see, Benton County has been taking good care of the old Palestine Church since it was moved to Adair Village in 2010 from its site on Palestine Road in North Albany, where it had sat for more than 100 years.
