As expected, the Albany City Council is getting ready to set the base rate of the proposed city-services fee or tax at $9 per month for single-family households.
Albany’s proposed city budget for the next two years has a bit of encouraging news, as far as I’m concerned. It does NOT call for or require the closing of the Carnegie library downtown.
The city council has asked for a report on Albany’s so-called Enhanced Law Enforcement Area, including how often it has been enforced. Another question might be: Does the public know what or where it is?
Chances are this lot on Albany’s Southeast Burkhart Street will soon look different. The city council has voted to sell the property to two men who want to build attached housing units there.
Oregon gun bill: A question of signs
Somehow, the sign I passed on a bike ride outside of Medford on Sunday reminded me of the gun bill — and signs of a completely different kind — the Oregon legislature has passed and sent to Governor Brown for her signature.
