The riverfront beat: A slight detour

Written September 16th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

The latest from the Albany riverfront beat: The Dave Clark Path was partially blocked on Tuesday afternoon, and it looked like the work might go on for a few more days.

Not a good time for hill climbing

Written September 15th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

Wondering where all that smoke came from about mid-day Monday? The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality says it came from a 2,300-acre wildfire near Estacada. Albany and Corvallis were among the places where the smoke was heaviest, according to a DEQ air quality map available online.

A small local tax for street repairs

Written September 15th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

Written September 10th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

How about a city sales tax on recreational marijuana in case Oregon voters pass Measure 91, the pot initiative, on Nov. 4? The Albany City Council is toying with the notion, sort of.
