Albany to borrow $16.9 million for riverfront

Albany plans to borrow up to $16.9 million to pay for the city’s urban renewal project to redevelop Monteith Riverpark and parts of 14 blocks of Water Avenue along the Willamette River.

Riverfront project includes work on crossings

Plans for Albany’s riverfront call for improving crossings on the Water Avenue rail line, opening new ones and closing others. But the new or improved crossings won’t have to be protected with automatic arms.

Riverfront project: Albany candidates answer

Whether the multimillion-dollar Albany Waterfront Project gets off the ground, and to what extent, will be up to the city council in office next year. At this point the project has the support of both candidates for mayor but only three of the seven running for the council.
