Three weeks ago, on June 5, I ran the above photo to illustrate the difficult challenge the Albany parks crew has every spring in trying to keep weeds under control along the city’s bike and walking paths.


Progress report in battle against tall grass

On Saturday the bike and I returned to the paved bikepath alongside Periwinkle Creek. Sure enough, a long section south of Queen Avenue had been cleared of the tall grass that threatened to cover the path before.

A reader’s email sent me on a mission along Albany’s Periwinkle Bikepath on Wednesday. Riding the bike on a paved trail away from traffic in springtime is a tough job, I know, but somebody has to do it.
