Once again the Albany City Council will be asked to decide what if anything to do with the former Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Main Street and Santiam Road.

Saving the old church building at Main Street and Santiam Road in Albany won’t be cheap, if it’s possible at all. That much was obvious from the first meeting of a work group formed by Mayor Sharon Konopa.

So yes, Good Samaritan Ministries Albany will get a chance to take on the project of restoring the crumbling Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 401 Main Street, but not right away. First there is the city land-use permitting process to overcome, and that’s expected to take three to four months.
