There was still a section of concert fencing across a new path in Monteith Riverpark Friday. It didn’t necessarily keep people from getting to the riverbank, but why keep a fence there at all?
As part of the Monteith Riverpark renovation, the City of Albany built a short boardwalk for easy access to a brush-covered gravel bar at the confluence of the Calapooia and Willamette rivers. But you couldn’t go there Sunday.
If you look up from the boardwalk on the Dave Clark Riverfront Path, you get a dramatic view of the underside of the Ellsworth Street Bridge across the Willamette River. And if you look down, you see that the boardwalk needs repairs.
There’s a short boardwalk or wooden walkway along Albany’s Dave Clark Riverfront Path. It is showing its age of about 40 years, but it won’t be replaced or rebuilt as part of the city’s $21.5 million Waterfront Project. Why not?
The boardwalk overlooking the Willamette River under the Ellsworth Street Bridge in Albany will remain unchanged by the city’s riverfront improvement plan, I learned today.
