The afternoon of Christmas Eve, the bike and I ventured east of I-5 to the northeast corner of Albany to take a look at the city’s newest park.
Time for another snapshot of an Albany park. This one is Lexington in the southeast part of town. The bike and I ended up there for a few minutes on the afternoon of Nov. 17.
The Willamette River at Albany was expected to crest at just under 20 feet in the early hours Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, well below the flood stage of 25 feet.

Replace Hazelwood Park? Not anytime soon
A “notice of filing” put out by Albany’s Community Development Department reminded me of a former city council’s sale of Hazelwood Park in 2021.
