Two months ago a big red oak in Albany’s Takena Park was surrounded by caution tape and in danger of being cut down because of root rot. Now the tape is gone and the tree has been spared, at least for a while.

Dead trees downtown: What’s being done
At a city council meeting this month, I think I heard that someone had complained about “dead trees” in downtown Albany. With nothing better to do on a Saturday evening bike ride, I went looking for these trees.
