When you have a few minutes, go visit the newly reconstructed east viewing pier on the Albany riverfront. It’s a beautiful piece of workmanship and a great vantage point for looking around.

When will bridge work actually start?

Night work on the Ellsworth Street Bridge in Albany starts either this Sunday or a week later, on April 1. There seems to be some uncertainty about the starting date.

Puzzled by something at the Ellsworth Bridge

On a bike ride last weekend I found myself under the Albany bridges over the Willamette River. That’s when I noticed a structural detail I had not seen before, something I wish somebody could explain.

When you wish for another lane, or bridge

Most of the time, the 95-year-old Ellsworth Street Bridge on the Willamette River works just fine, but sometimes you wish it had another lane, or Albany had another bridge.
