The Albany City Council Monday had no objections to contracting with Millersburg for fire protection covering all of the smaller town on its northern edge.

Building the planned Love’s Travel Center in Millersburg is taking longer than anticipated. That’s the word I got when I checked with City Hall this week after taking a look at the site on Old Salem Road.
Albany is asserting damage claims totaling some $84 million in the lawsuit it has filed over problems at the city’s wastewater treatment plant and the nearby constructed wetlands, the Talking Water Gardens.
The generator in Albany’s Vine Street powerhouse has been quiet this fall, a period when normally it would have been running. But it may start up again in a matter of days and once again earning money from electricity sales.
Another sign that things are moving ahead on the plans to open the new market at the North Albany Village shopping center: Baldwin General Contracting Inc. has begun working to rebuild the inside.
CARA backs pastry chef’s plan
The old Tripp and Tripp Building at the corner of Second Avenue and Ellsworth Street may soon house a bakery, with help from CARA, the downtown urban renewal agency.
