Last month I wrote something about the barbed wire fence along the Albany Santiam Canal north of Queen Avenue. The bike took me by there again last week for another look.
As you can see, the old chain link fence on the canal’s west side has been replaced with a new one that looks a little more decorative.
The old barbed wire on top, rusted and twisted as some of it was, has given way to three new strands.
The late Jim Ketter, who lived in the neighborhood, tried six years ago to get the city to get rid of the barbed wire, to no avail.
But at least the new chain link stuff, coated with black vinyl, has improved the looks, even with the barbs on top. (hh)
Thanks for the update and the pictures, Hasso.
I really enjoy your stories Hasso, thankyou for sharing them.
