In case the closed gates on Bryant Way outside of Albany don’t do the trick, the Linn County Road Department has emphasized the message with a sign that could not be clearer.
“Don’t drown.” As for road signs, you can travel far and wide and you won’t find one that makes more sense. On a bike ride Sunday afternoon, I ducked under the barrier to take a closer look a the torrent crossing the road. Before these barriers were installed, Albany Fire and Rescue at least twice had to rescue people after their vehicles were carried away by flooding in this spot. (hh)
