
The bike took me to Albany’s Bryant Park Wednesday. The park remains closed to vehicles because of the recent flooding, but people can get around the gates on foot or on two wheels.
“How high’s the water, Momma?” Johnny Cash asked in 1959. And the answer was: “Five feet high and rising.”
The Albany riverfront gets a little more interesting every time the water level rises, as it is doing now because of recent rains.
As you would expect, the pile of trash, logs and smaller bits of driftwood under the Albany railroad bridge on the Willamette River is getting bigger this winter.
If anyone had plans for a Mother’s Day picnic at this shelter in Albany’s Bryant Park, well, those plans had to be changed.
Monteith boardwalk unharmed by flooding
Being under water for a few days toward the end of December apparently did not damage the short “boardwalk” at the bottom of Albany’s Monteith Riverpark.
