Bryant Way and Bryant Drive is one of the nicest roads for a bike ride in and near Albany. That’s why I went there for a short jaunt before it started raining Wednesday afternoon.
What was the occasion? Here, let me explain:
After about half a mile or so out of town, Bryant Way becomes Bryant Drive, which continues on toward Riverside Drive.
You would think that whoever named the road — maybe the Bryant family more than a century ago, or the county later on — could have named the whole thing the same. It could be either “Way” or “Drive” all the way, without the confusing change in the middle.
Regardless of what it’s called, the road is great for riding a bike because it’s level, has ample bike lanes, and most of the time motor traffic is light.
Also, the county maintains the pavement well, and the scenery is pleasant, regardless of the time of year.
Don’t take my word for it, though. Just get on your bike and see for yourself. (hh)
It was Bryant Drive from the park to Riverside and the first road to the right was Cherry Lane 60 years ago. I believe the Post Office engineered the change in road names as we lived at 2980 Cherry Lane.
The tract was subdivided by the Bryant family which donated Bryant Park in an exchange with the county building the original covered bridge.
Happy Birthday, Hasso!
