Albany city officials say complications with two railroads are still delaying construction of a new water main on Queen Avenue just east of Pacific Boulevard.
It was raining Tuesday when the bike and I came up to the railroad crossing on Queen Avenue. The crossing arms were down and rail cars loaded with lumber blocked the street.
You probably saw the announcement on social media, but in case you missed it, here’s what it said: The railroad crossing on Salem Avenue in Albany is closed today and Saturday for repairs.
Those phone numbers posted at rail crossings? Guess what: Somebody actually answers when you call.
Now that was a weird-looking train that inched its way across Albany streets on Wednesday morning.
There’s a nice little path people can use to walk or bike across the Union Pacific mainline track at Burkhart Street. Nothing much has happened there lately, as far as I know, but I thought I would show it to you anyway.
