North Albany County Park is going to look a little different after this fall. There will be fewer big old Douglas firs.
North Albany County Park is not usually a busy place. No crowds jostle for space. Which makes it a welcome oasis among the subdivisions spreading out on all sides. Now Benton County is seeking public “input” on what the park could or should be in years to come.
Neighbors of a planned addition to Benton County’s North Albany Park were concerned when they saw loggers had felled some big trees they thought would be preserved. Albany’s new dog park wasn’t exactly overrun Sunday morning, but the dogs that were there seemed to enjoy themselves. Maybe they don’t usually get to run around in company with other dogs, so this might have neen something of a novelty for them.
NA Park: Dead trees to be logged
North Albany County Park is a sad sight these days. Dead and dying Douglas firs all over the place. These trees could become a hazard, so Benton County has to cut them down, and for that to be done, the county is closing the park next week.
