The July heat wave came at just the right time. This has been the first week that Albany’s new children’s splash pad was open in the renovated Monteith Riverpark.
A week ago Monday, on June 17, the construction fencing around Monteith Riverpark had disappeared, and I took that as an opportunity to make a quick tour of the reconstructed park.
And in other exciting news, the new crossing to the Dave Clark Riverfront Path at Montgomery Street in Albany has been opened for public use.
Besides the new stage, playground and splash pad, another striking feature of Albany’s refurbished Monteith Riverpark is a concrete stairway that sweeps down — or up — the middle of the park’s grassy slope.
