Construction work on the Water Avenue rail line does not stop on weekends, as I could not help but notice on my regular bike route Sunday afternoon.
The two river-viewing piers on Albany’s waterfront have been closed to the public for reconstruction since last spring, but now there’s a sign of some progress.
The afternoon of Christmas Eve, the bike and I ventured east of I-5 to the northeast corner of Albany to take a look at the city’s newest park.
The section of Queen Avenue from Pacific Boulevard to Ferry Street, and across four railroad tracks, will likely remain closed through November.
Queen Avenue in Albany has been closed to through traffic for weeks while the street is being rebuilt. Businesses are open but feel the effects in reduced activity and sales.
Looking in as Monteith Park is rebuilt
Once again the construction gate was ajar and no one seemed to be around on Monday afternoon, so the bike and I snuck into Monteith Riverpark to look at how the park’s reconstruction was coming along.
