Questioning ‘sharrows’ on downtown couplet

It was in 2018 that ODOT painted shared-lane markings in the middle of the right traffic lanes of the Ellsworth-Lyon couplet in downtown Albany. This is long enough for me to venture the conclusion that these so-called sharrows don’t actually work.


Take the lane, those symbols say

“They must be kidding” was my thought when I first laid eyes on this new symbol in the middle of the right-hand travel lane of Albany’s Ellsworth Street downtown. But they’re not. Kidding, that is.
