It was time Friday for one of my occasional expeditions to Bowers Rock State Park, a big chunk of publicly owned land that now is getting renewed attention from the state parks department after decades of not much going on.

Sunshine and dry weather meant it was time for my annual visit to Bowers Rock State Park. The park is a good place to see natural open space along the Willamette River. And it’s still hard to get to because there’s no easy place to park and the only access road tries to keep the public out.


Bowers Rock: Broken promises

Nothing makes clearer the broken promises of Bowers Rock State Park than one little notice on the array of signs at the park entrance, an entrance from which nearby land owners evidently want the public barred.
