For someone in a wheelchair, trying to cross the railroad track on Water Avenue to reach the Dave Clark Path is an arduous adventure if it’s possible at all.
On Saturday the steel roof supports of the new stage in Albany’s Monteith Riverpark were still sitting on the ground. Today they had been lifted into place.
From the Dave Clark Riverfront Path, you can see one of the piers on the river being rebuilt as part of the Albany Waterfront Project. The other one is being rebuilt too, but you can’t see it from the land side because the path is blocked.
Albany’s contractor on the riverfront now has the green light to proceed with the second half of the effort, the transformation of about four blocks on the west end of Water Avenue.
Riverfront crossings’ price has gone up
If the city council goes along, Albany is about to spend $3.4 million on crossings along the Water Avenue railroad line.
