Albany searches for street funding ideas

Monday’s council work session does not signal a solution any time soon.

Drivers in Albany and across Oregon are expected to all be tooling around in electric vehicles in about 30 years. The implication of that gets little discussion as the legislature prepares to pass its plan to force a near-elimination of fossil fuels and the emissions of greenhouse gas.

A new subdivision on the west side of Albany is in the final stages of being approved. Whether it and others like it remain reserved for single-family homes is something the legislature has yet to decide.

Apartments on river get Albany staff’s OK

The site plan for a proposed 105-unit apartment complex on the Willamette River has won the tentative approval of the Albany city planning staff.  Neighbors who submitted written comments now have until June 10 to ask for a public hearing before the Albany Planning Commission.
