Judging by the photos that popped up on Facebook Saturday afternoon, I was afraid our plans for a McDonald’s takeout meal had gone up in flames and heavy smoke. But no, it worked out OK, as you can see from the paper bag hanging from my handle bar.
My favorite fast-food joint at the corner of Pacific Boulevard and 18th Avenue was doing brisk business as usual when I stopped in just before 6.
The fire that alarmed the Facebook crowd — and evidently the Albany Fire Department, which responded promptly — had occurred in a trash container, according to the employee I talked to.
Situated outside of and separate from the restaurant building itself, the metal gates of the enclosure showed the effects of fire and heat by the time saw them. Bits of ash were scattered on the ground outside.
I’m glad this fire was extinguished before it spread. (hh)
I saw that fire coming back into town before 4 pm. Many emergency vehicles. Went to town later, coming back after 6 pm. The fire was out and a big line of cars in line to order. Glad to see it was apparently not serious.
Look forward to reading your comments.
Likely dumpster fire?
Coincidentally (or maybe not) there was a fire across the street at the Ford dealership a few hours later.
Interesting. A Fire-call doesn’t show up on the public *real-time* app: PulsePoint. Where did you get your information?
From someone at the store and a guest.
Not McDonald’s – that was obvious on PulsePoint – the Ford dealer he mentioned…
Sorry, I misread your comment.
The call was logged at 8:12pm Saturday on PulsePoint.
