UP permit issue stalls new path

Written June 6th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

If you’re anxiously waiting for that new bike and walking path under the Pacific Boulevard overpass — and even if you’re not — you’re going to have to wait a while longer. Construction was to have started in May. But nothing’s going on at the site. The reason: The project apparently needs a permit from the […]

Train station sites compared

Written June 5th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

Faster and more frequent passenger train service up and down the Willamette Valley may be a distant dream, but the planning work grinds on. ODOT’s passenger rail program has just published a comparison of all the existing and potential stops. In Albany, the report compares the existing depot, Albany Station, with a potential stop near […]

Written June 3rd, 2014 by Hasso Hering

But it turns out the erosion barrier is merely a sign that Northwest Natural is starting the latest phase of its gas pipeline expansion program in the Willamette Valley.

Hare’s case heads for appeal

Written June 2nd, 2014 by Hasso Hering

An administrative law judge for the state Elections Division has upheld — big surprise! — the agency’s $75 fine against Albany City Manager Wes Hare for reminding voters last fall that an election was taking place. Now it’s up to the Oregon appellate courts to strike a blow for free speech, but also for common […]
