Marcie Richie, photographed on Sept. 25, has been named to succeed Steve Druckenmiller as Linn County clerk.
When I visited the late Steve Druckenmiller’s office in the Linn County Courthouse on Sept. 25, it was Chief Deputy Clerk Marcie Richey who showed me around.
The Linn County Board of Commissioners now has appointed Richey to succeed her boss as clerk, the county annnounced today.
If she wants to keep the office beyond 2024, she will have to file and win election next year.
Richey has worked in the clerk’s office for almost 30 years. She will be sworn in on Tuesday by Judge Rachel Kittson-MaQatish in Courtroom 1 at the Linn County Courthouse.
Druckenmiller had been re-elected to his 10th four-year term in 2022. He died of cancer on Sept. 24 at the age of 73.
Like others who commented on this site after Druckenmiller’s death, I always found the clerk and his staff to be helpful and professional, and especially so in the conduct of elections. We can be sure that under Richey this tradition will be upheld. (hh)
