Sandwiched between Pacific Boulevard and Seventh Avenue in Albany, there is a lot that is partially paved but usually vacant. On a recent Sunday I saw a food cart there, so I stopped the bike for a closer look.

Plans to build a Chick-fil-A restaurant near the Santiam Highway/Interstate 5 interchange in Albany have been perking along since last summer. One complication is that a zone change is needed so the restaurant’s employees have a place to park.
Now it’s official: Janel and Matt Bennett, owners of Sybaris, are buying the historic Oregon Electric Railway station in downtown Albany and plan to move their world-class restaurant there.

Long remodeling now looks finished
Over the last few years, I have occasionally published progress reports on the remodeling of a former Chinese restaurant building on Santiam Highway in Albany. Now the outside is finished, and it looks ornate.
