Every once in a while, bike rides around Albany take me past 241 Waverly Drive S.E., where the Creating Housing Coalition is building 27 “tiny houses” in a compound it calls Hub City Village.
Construction of Hub City Village continues apace at 241 Waverly Drive S.E., and people hoping to live there there may be interested in what the Albany Community Development Commission was told last month.
It was four years ago, in July 2019, that I first reported on Albany’s Creating Housing Coalition and its hopes of building a community of tiny houses for people who have no place else to live. Now the group is about to start building the place.
Before it can build its planned Hub City Village of tiny houses, the Creating Housing Coalition will have to clear the site of trees.
It took a year for the Albany City Council to allocate part of the $1 million the Oregon legislature gave the city to do something about homelessness or the shortage of housing that people can afford.
The Albany City Council lacked sufficient votes Wednesday to allocate part of the $1 million the city got from the state to spend toward easing various housing problems including homelessness.
Hub City Village: It’s almost complete
The first thing I noticed when I stopped by the Hub City Village construction site last Saturday was the concrete pool to the right of the entrance.
