When you wake up to an inch of snow on the ground and walk out to get the paper, you have to admire the dedication of people who have dogs.
Tracks in the snow remind you that no matter what the weather, dog owners get out there to give their companions a morning walk. Unless they have a fenced yard, in which case they might just open the door to let the dog out.
Tire tracks on the road remind you, too, of your neighbors who went to work and did not have the luxury of staying home until the snow melted away.
Going to work every day all year round, regardless of the weather, is something you don’t necessarily miss when the work is no longer there.
Still, some of us may may regret no longer being in the work force.
But without a dog needing a walk, we have the consolation of being able, on cold winter mornings, to sit by the window with a cup of coffee and look outside to watch the birds. (hh)
Nice thoughts Hasso. Today is my birthday and our 44th anniversary. Spending time at the coast where the weather was beautiful today. Happy Valentines Day to all.
Is that suet cage mounted close to the ground? No cats passing by to bother the birds?
Thanks for the nice pictures. (I no longer mind at all not being part of the workforce. It took me a while after retirement to get to this place. I’m no longer “workin’ for the man,” as my brother (God rest his soul) used to say.
