Here you can watch me taking a chance on reporting that something happened before it actually happened:
Well, the risk was not great. The planned development on 14 acres of vacant land east of Three Lakes Road is in line with city projections that Albany will need many more housing units over the next few decades. And the planning staff supported it.
So, as I thought it would, the Albany Panning Commission Monday approved plans by Conser and Sons, the property owners, for 120 apartments and 41 individual houses on the site.
The commission’s approval of changes in the comprehensive plan and the zoning map — as requested by the applicant to allow the development — takes the form of a recommendation to the city council.
The council has scheduled a hearing and potential action on those issues for April 13.
By the way, if you’re wondering about the headline on this piece, documents before the planning commission list the name of this development: “Honey Grove.” (hh)
Albany doesn’t “need” more housing units (which our infrastructure can’t support). It’s just the thoughtless, greedy folks that want more.
Blah, blah, blah. You’re clueless and have NO IDEA how the city works.
It obviously doesn’t work for the citizens.
Perhaps you should open the Hering House of Divination somewhere in the CARA districting region. Monies may yet be available for prescient start-ups.
Extremely fun to realize that you …what’s the term … Scooped the DH on this one!
Bike power.
Hasso usually “scoops” the Corvallis Democrat newspaper. You just need to pay attention to what actually happens over here.
With all these new developments, what is the city’s capacity for water & sewage? We’re already paying among the highest rates in the State.
