A casualty of last week’s storm: N.A. clinic

Written January 23rd, 2024 by Hasso Hering

Outside the entrance to the Urgent Care clinic in North Albany on Tuesday afternoon.

On social media, a few people asked why Samaritan Health’s Urgent Care clinic in North Albany has been closed since last week. If they had read the sign on the door, they would have had a clue.

“Storm repairs,”  it says on the sign, which also lists other walk-in clinics that are open.

The North Albany Urgent Care is on the third floor of Samaritan’s medical center at 400 Hickory St. N.W. Evidently the building sustained damage resulting from the snow and ice storm early last week.

Wondering about the details, I checked with Samaritan. My media contact there said he understood that a pipe had burst, and he referred me to someone else for more information. But I didn’t hear from anyone else.

On Tuesday the bike took me across the river to North Albany to take a look. As you can see from the van parked outside the entrance to the clinic, repairs were under way.

A man carried cleaning equipment upstairs, and another came out with what looked like ruined ceiling tiles.

While I was there, a woman came out. She had gone up to the third floor only to find the clinic out of operation. She had missed the sign on the parking lot door because the door was propped open so that the sign was out of sight.

I did not find out the extent of the damage, or how long the repairs will take. The clinic’s website reports the closure without an estimate of how long the closure will last.

Maybe Samaritan will use the clinic’s site to announce the reopening date when the damage is fixed. (hh)

EGAD! That sounds like alot of water damage! There are also doctors on the 3rd Floor directly across from Urgent Care. And, it’s my doctor group! I hope they open soon – it is a busy facility. Thank you, Hasso for reporting to and for us!
