This llama and his master — he seemed more like his friend — are frequent visitors to Albany. But Saturday I met them for the first time.
It went like this:
You may have noticed that I asked Mr. McCool a stupid question. Of course a llama named Caesar is a male. What was I thinking?
This encounter on the courthouse lawn wasn’t the biggest thing that went on downtown on Saturday. But on my daily bike ride, it happened to be what I saw. (hh)
Mr. McCool, thank you for sharing your very cool llama with us, a peaceful respite!
“Oh! be careful back there…” quickly followed by a Hasso chortle.
Made me LOL too. Thanks, I needed that!
Larry McCool and Caesar are regular visitors to (and inside) the Albany Historic Carousel & Museum. Caesar loves to get hugged by kids! :-) The Carousel also has Caesar-autographed books in the giftshop. Larry travels around the NW showing Caesar at no-charge!
He’s also made national news: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2020/08/05/therapy-llama-caesar-no-drama-llama-diffuses-tension-protests/
I also saw Caesar, the no Drama Llama at the Saturday Market yesterday. The first time I saw him was last December at the Christmas Storybook Land drive through. My ganddaughter was delighted with him and was able to pet him when he stuck his head inside our vehicle. Very cute, he pops up around town now and then.
Caesar is an exceptional creature. I recall Larry mentioning that no other llama in his herd has the same temperament. Our guard llamas certainly did not. Very high drama when coyotes were lurking.
Always nice to see Caesar out and about, sporting a very fashionable cut for the fall season.
Thank you
Caesar, the No-Drama Llama, is a regular at the Farmers’ Market and at events such as the Albany Pride Parade. He’s wonderful.
Hopefully, llama tastes better than yak.
