At construction sites in the Albany area, passersby often want to know what’s being built. At the corner of Ellingson Road and Pacific Boulevard, they don’t have to ask if they look at the sign.
It was last week when a bike ride to the south end of Albany took me past that corner where, at 755 Ellingson Road S.W., construction has been under way for several months.
In the fall 2022, the city’s Community Develoment Department approved a site plan for the address. The plan for was for a two-story office building and enclosed warehouse of roughly 10,000 square feet, along with parking, landscaping and other details.
The structure is being built for TGC Structural, as a sign on the corner tells people passing by. “Delivering excellence in concete and carpentry” is the company’s motto.
TGC Structural now has an address on Airport Road in Corvallis. It is one of the entities in Corvallis-based Gerding Companies, the prominent firm that has built many big projects in Albany.
Letting the public know with a big sign on the fence what’s being built is a helpful thing to do. It prevents a lot of questions from people driving by. (hh)
I read the sign the other day while driving by. I had not a clue who TGC was or what they do. Thanks for the additional info on them.
We live just up the street from this building site. We had been wondering what it was then did see the sign a long time ago. It seems work has stalled on it recently. A lot of new structures in our area with all the houses going in on Ellington and Lochner. I used to like going for runs out that direction because of the light traffic. Oh well.
