On the evening of Independence Day, Albany was unusually quiet, having celebrated with a River Rhythms concert and fireworks the night before. But in the riverside neighborhood around the north end of Oak Street, things were anything but quiet as I discovered on an evening ride around town.
As the sign said and the video shows, the neighborhood celebrated by holding its annual Independence Day picnic, complete — it looked like — with plenty of food and, of course, a fairly loud band.
Don’t let anyone tell you that Albany neighborhood doesn’t know how to have a good time. (hh)
