You probably saw the announcement on social media, but in case you missed it, here’s what it said: The railroad crossing on Salem Avenue in Albany is closed today and Saturday for repairs.
The Union Pacific is repairing or replacing the Salem Avenue grade crossing on its main line.
This morning the space between the rails was torn up, and a crane was lifting the concrete panels from between the rails and putting them aside.
A UP rail inspector was on hand.
I don’t know about the condition of the rails or the track as a whole, but as far as motor traffic is concerned, the crossing didn’t seem in bad shape. It was a lot smoother than the grade crossing on Queen Avenue, where further repairs are scheduled later.
Just remember, on Salem Avenue don’t count on crossing the tracks for these two days. (hh)
tell us about crossing three lakes road and grandprarie… very dangerous. any plans to fix?
