On my way through town Tuesday morning, it took me a while to realize why everybody was blowing through the school zone at the bottom of the hill at 40 miles per hour without even a token tap on the brakes. Then I glanced to the left and saw the school parking lot empty. Ah! It’s not a school day, so it must be spring vacation.
(We used to call it Easter vacation. I gather we don’t call it that anymore lest anybody take offense. As though calling something by its proper or traditional name could possibly do anybody any psychic, spiritual or physical harm. But let it go.)
The streets were strangely empty. The county roads around here even more so. Seems like everybody who could get some time off took the chance to head out of town. Well, wherever they went, I hope they have fun.
Sparsely trafficked roadways are fine with me, especially when I’m on the bike. And especially in springtime when there’s a break in the clouds and the weather gods decide it has rained enough, at least for a while.
No traffic and no rain — a perfect combination for an afternoon ride not far from home. (hh)
Hasso: I enjoyed watching your bike ride video as you traveled along Oak Grove Drive where we live. You passed our home which is the last house on the left just prior to Palenstine Road. Happy biking!
