… even the makers of Albany street signs.
This one was called to my attention by Tom Cutsforth, a resident of Park Terrace. In turn, he says, it had been pointed out to him by his friend and neighbor Dr. Tim Reid.
“I formerly was in the automobile business,” Tom reminded me, “and had a lot of happy customers who used to purchase Ford Tarraces from me for over 20 years (however we spelled it “Taurus”), so I do have a natural affinity for the sound of the new change.”
He wondered how come all the other segments of Park Terrace did not have their names altered the same way. And he thought I could dig into this latest little mystery of life in River City. “Or not,” he adds.
Or not indeed. There’s no mystery why people working with the alphabet get a letter wrong now and then: The mind wanders, and bang, there’s an e where we meant to put an a. Sadly, I can say from my own experience that the more one juggles letters, the more often these lapses are likely to occur. (hh)
Well, at least it wasn’t spelled…. Park Tearass! Now that’s a sign that surely might be stolen.
