The Fourth on Broadway

Well, the Third, actually. Riding around Albany on Thursday, I noticed a somewhat unusual display of the Stars and Stripes on Broadway Street S.W.

In the run-up to Independence Day, lots of people put out our flag, of course, on the porch or wherever there’s holder for the flagpole. On this street on the west side of the old Bureau of Mines, now the National Energy Technology Laboratory, the neighborhood or somebody has mounted the flags on the poles of Pacific Power & Light.

There’s a flag on just about every power pole on this very long block from 27th Avenue all the way up to Queen Avenue. It’s as tough they were expecting a parade. Alas, all they got when I was there on Thursday was one guy on a bike. (hh)

They do this on memorial day too. At least they did this year.
