Just before 3 on Wednesday afternoon, a southbound train of Amtrak’s Cascades service was parked at Albany Station. I wondered if there was something wrong.

At this bumpy crossing, a fix is in sight

Well, here’s a surprise likely to be welcomed by Albany motorists: After planned improvements were delayed year after year, the uneven railroad crossing on Queen Avenue now will be fixed in a matter of months.

Bad news for drivers using the railroad crossing on Albany’s Queen Avenue: A project to fix the uneven crossing is likely to be delayed another year. Instead of being constructed in 2022, it may be done in 2023.

Crossing Cox Creek: UP makes a move
There’s some massive construction work happening on Albany’s Cox Creek, just off the trestle that carries the Union Pacific’s main line. I didn’t know what I was seeing when I went by there a week ago, but now I know a little more.
