The Albany Planning Commission Monday approved the conversion of a historic house in the Monteith District into a substance-abuse treatment center.

The historic Albany house at 506 Ferry St. S.W., should not be converted as a commercial treatment center for people trying to overcome substance abuse, the city’s planning commission has decided.

The owners of the historic Sternberg House in downtown Albany have renewed their request for their business, Recovery First LLC, to use the house as a drug and alcohol treatment center.
